IUOE Local 727 Paramedicine Professionals ratify three (3) year collective agreement with EMC Emergency Medical Care Inc.

The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 727 represents the resilient front line paramedicine professionals throughout the Province of Nova Scotia. The Paramedics, LifeFlight Team members and Clinical Transport Operators are a vital component in the delivery of quality healthcare in Nova Scotia.

With the assistance the IUOE Canadian Office, IUOE Local 727 negotiated a proposed collective agreement with EMC Emergency Medical Care Inc. on behalf of the membership of Local 727 on November 9, 2023. Once a deal was reached at the bargaining table, IUOE Local 727 conducted information sessions to ensure the membership had an opportunity to review the content of the proposed collective agreement. Voting of the membership to ratify the proposed collective agreement took place November 15-17, 2023. IUOE Local 727 is pleased to report the membership who deliver paramedicine in the province of Nova Scotia voted to ratify the proposed collective agreement.

IUOE Local 727 would like to thank the hardworking paramedicine professionals that make up our proud membership for their patience and confidence while IUOE Local 727 worked with EMC and the provincial government to ensure the difficult work our membership do every day to save the lives of Nova Scotians was appropriately reflected in the terms of the renewed collective agreement.

IUOE Local 727 sees this deal as an important step, ensuring our members are properly compensated for their commitment to Nova Scotia. There is still work to be done to ensure the work life balance and wellbeing of our members’ is priority number one, but this is a clear signal from EMC and government that they are going to be partners in this pursuit moving forward.”
